Ahhhhh.... exhaling.

What an experience... this election. I've felt highs and lows and now I'm at peace. We can restore our standing in the world.. and the rich get their free ride taken away.

I am going to miss a lot of the democratic talking heads that have been on TV. I love Robert Gibbs, spokesman for Obama campaign.... and many others.

But, I will not miss Nicolle Wallace. She gets on my last nerve.

"And the rich get their free ride taken away" --
WOW! I am one of those rich that worked hard for what she has but now I am going to be forced to share what I worked hard for and saved for?

Oh wait I forgot I should gladly support the people that want to sit on their asses (like Obama's illegal Auntie in Boston, MA) so they can have the American Dream that I worked so hard for, for my family!

We can restore our standing in the world

what standing is that? The USA has always been disliked and having a 1/2 black president won't change that!

for those who are 'rich' get over it!

there are people who need HELP IN THIS WORLD. not to be put down.

if it mattered that much, to everyone in this country, THE POLLS WOULD HAVE REFLECTED SUCH.

what's done is done, and i for one, completely support Barack Obama.

i was always taught growing up, the more you make, the more taxes you pay. END OF STORY.

and i'd hate to think that people are still so concerned about race. this was a long time comming, and i for one, and more than excited, that i can see my best friend (who happens to be black) tell her children, that they truly CAN be anything they want to be in this world.

congratulations to PRESIDENT barack obama.

Wow Karin, you sound awfully bitter.

If you don't like what I have to write.. don't read it.

It's that simple.

Oh, and the VERY wealthy... pay all kinds of lawyers to get them tax breaks that the middle class don't get. Since there are more people in the middle class, they contribute the most to the economy. You need to allow them to have money in their pockets.

Jen-

I am bitter because I worked hard for what I have. I pay my fair share of taxes and I do not think that a certain class of people are "entitled" to anything without hard work--I do not believe in HANDOUTS!!

Cynthia-

I would love to see more people off welfare and handouts, but Obama is not going to accomplish that!

And heck I do pay my fair share of taxes my dear, probably more than you do! I also give over 20% of my income to charity and I give my time and talent to charity too. But now your going to take even more of my $$--hello USSA!

and i'd hate to think that people are still so concerned about race. this was a long time comming, and i for one, and more than excited, that i can see my best friend (who happens to be black) tell her children, that they truly CAN be anything they want to be in this world.

Race was always an issue just ask Obama supporters--!
I find this sentiment so funny...your black friends kid never knew that they could be/do ANYTHING? It took a 1/2 black man getting elected POTUS for them to realize that--WOW! what about all those other black role models that we have-they did not mean anything?

LOL! And you think Obama is not going to tax you in the middle class as well as the rich?! That is the best joke yet--where do you think he is going to get the $$ for all of his "spreading the wealth"?

Karin said...

Jen what is VERY wealthy?

$100K per year, $50k per year, $25K per year--what number classifies the very wealthy? My husband and I make $80K/year but we have amassed savings in the tune of $2mil over the years (wise investing, maxing out 401k etc.) we support a family of 5 on that amount--one of whom is in college at the tune of $45k/year as we make too much money per FASFA to qualify for FA. So am I VERY wealthy? Or just middle class? should I be penalized for saving such a large amount of money so my kids can go to college wihtout loans and we have $$ to retire with?? should I be penalized because we do not live above our means?

Also Bill Gates the richest man in the USA gives MILLIONS away each year in charity, but I guess that is not good enough?!

If you want to have a reasonable debate about things, I am all for it. However, I won't indulge in a conversation that sounds so demeaning to certain groups. I have worked with many poor folks. Most of them are hardworking individuals who want nothing more than to support their families. It is such a small percentage of ppl that are "lazy" as you would put it. There are single working mothers out there, that pay for daycare, only to give up most of their paycheck. Obama defines middle class as less than making $250,000/year. I think that's fair. We currently have a progressive tax system. The more you make, the percentage gets taken out. However, when wealthy individuals (earning $500,000/ year or more IMO)... get extra tax cuts, it's not fair to the system. Obama is not going to raise taxes on ppl earning less than $250,000/year, so it looks like you will benefit. You should visit his tax calculator to find out.

My household income is comparable to yours. I have a child that I take care, saving for retirement, student loans, mortgage. I don't have a lot leftover each month. BUT, if paying a little bit more in taxes helped save someone's life, b/c they could get healthcare or food to eat. That's fine with me.

Actually you will have to pay MORE in taxes because there are not enough folks making over $250K a year to raise the $$ that Obama is gonna need to fund his "spreading the wealth" scheme.
I am all for helping honest hard working people get a little foot up when they need it, what I have issues with are the people (large amount of them) that ABUSE the system! Also I guess you have no issue with your money going to fund abortions?
I have an issue with that!

Do you actually believe that? So just where is he gonna get the billions he is going to need--from the "rich"? There are not enough rich people to fund his programs Jen so guess what he is going to have to tax the middle class (that is you and me) and it won't be a little more but alot more to fund his programs.

Jen said...

I am not worried. As we dial down the war, it will free up more money. He won't start any of his programs until he has the money to pay for them. I am not worried at all about him raising my taxes. It's not like he's a vindictive man that's out to take your money. That's what the republicans will have you believe. That spreading the wealth statement was completely taken out of context.

And yes, I'm pro choice. But don't confuse that with pro abortion as most conservatives do. :)

Karin said...

Well I am pro-life and dont want my money funding abortions! It goes against every moral and value that I have and to force people to fund abortions against their will is wrong!

So how long is it going to take Obama to dial down the war? In the mean time he is going to have to raise funds somehow--you know RAISE taxes.

"spread the wealth" taken outta context? No I don't think so. Obama made it pretty clear what he meant!

I am sorry but being Pro-Life like Obama equates to DEATH/Abortion. Especially when he looks at babies as "punishment" (his words) and when as he stated the first thing he will do as President is pass FOCA.
Do you have any idea what FOCA will do if passed?? If you are not pro-abortion then you should have issues with it.

Karin said...

As a side note Jen, I thought Obama was supposed to turn things around (economy wise) so why did Wall Street greet him with over a 300 point DROP?!

WOW if that is the change he was talking about I think most of us can do without it!! But if it keeps up then he can help more of us as he "spreads the wealth"!

Karin said...

As if Mr. Obama's stance on abortion wasn't repugnant enough... now he wants me to endanger my immortal soul by paying taxes that will pay for those abortions.... this is morally unacceptable to me!

Mr. Obama wants me to accept that anyone who makes over $150,000 should be taxed at a higher rate... while I don't make that much, I work for a man that does..... so now my job will be in danger.

Mr. Obama has no foreign relations experience and is willing to sit down with terrorists and talk.... History has proven that terrorists do not respect this action, they see it as weak and aim to conquer... so now my country that I love so much is in danger.

Mr. Obama doesn't want our coast lines "littered" with oil rigs because it isn't pretty... and he doesn't want coal mining to continue... and has even promised to tax coal mining into extinction... coal powers over half of our electric plants right now... so we will be at the mercy of foreign oil suppliers and most likely sitting in the dark..... as my livelihood depends on electricity.... I will be both...living in the dark and unemployed... but that is OK... because he favors a welfare state, where the people have to depend on the government for sustinence ...but you have to follow their rules to get that sustinence... it's like selling your soul to the devil to survive.... I choose my immortal soul....

Do any of you bother to listen to what Obama says?
He made it clear that he doesn't support the Partial Birth Abortion unless it has a provision for the health of the mother.

Partial Birth Abortions are so rare. It's not like women walk around for 6 months and decide "I think I am going to get an abortion." It's usually because of some health risk if they are done.

How do you figure that your money is going to be used to "fund" abortions?

You are using all of the talking points that the republicans have set you up with. Why don't you visit Obama's website and find out the facts.

Listen, the fact of the matter is that not everyone will always consider every candidate perfect.

But I am ecstatic. I had to deal with Bush for the last 8 years, spending more money than Obama proposes spending -- talk about socialist--- we bought out the banks.

Oh, and you can't possibly even blame the stock market drop on Obama today. Give me a break, that just shows how ridiculous you are being. The last I checked Bush is still the acting president until January. And it took us some time to get into this mess, it's going to take time to get out.

Karin said...

Of course I listened to what Obama said and he said the first thing he would do as President would be pass FOCA. Have YOU read the bill? Regarding "pledging to make taxpayers pay for abortions," Obama has done just that. He has pledged that abortion (a.k.a. "reproductive health care") will be part of his national health insurance plan, and he has said that "the first thing I'd do as president" is sign the FOCA, which would clearly invalidate all state and federal policies limiting funding for abortion, as the bill's chief sponsors and advocates openly proclaim. Moreover, in the Illinois Senate Obama voted against restricting public funding for elective abortions.
So is it still ok for me to fund something that I find morally disgusting and against God's word?!

Yes we bought out the banks my dear Jen and Obama was right on that band wagon! Now lets question why we had to bail them out---bad loans to people that had no BUSINESS getting them but got them based on the color of their skin--thank you ACORN!

You are totally right Obama is not my choice and he never will be. It has nothing to do with his skin color but for what he stands for and who has stood by him/ for him. I judge a man the same way MLK did and Obama's suit is empty!

I am still waiting to see Obama's Illegal Auntie get deported, but now that her nephew is President elect do you think that will happen??

karin.

go away.

people like you add nothing for the Republicans. you make yourself look silly, foolish, and selfish.

and as far as my black friend, yes, it did, because when she was growing up, she was told that they COULDN'T do that. also. not too long ago, blacks couldn't vote, or have any rights.

until you walk a mile in someones shoes, you have no idea.

once again, if obama's plans were so ridiculous, so out of the world insane, he would not have one.

LOL! In this day and age with affirmative action and all that other B.S. I find this really hard to believe! And hey now since we have a 1/2 black man in the highest office of the land can we do away with Affirmative action??

people like you add nothing for the Republicans. you make yourself look silly, foolish, and selfish.

You must have reading comprehension issues...I do not belong to ANY ONE party. I never aligned myself with any party...I vote for who I feel is best for me and the country.

once again, if obama's plans were so ridiculous, so out of the world insane, he would not have one.

Did you mean "won"?
And the only reason he "won" was because of his "race", IMHO.
